Department of Aviation Mission Statement
Working together, we will deliver the highest quality education, research, and service in aviation and related disciplines to our students, our college, and the worldwide aerospace community.
Aviation Program Educational ObjectivesThe following four aviation program objectives were derived by the Aviation Faculty. These objectives will serve as the basis of our assessment activities. Many of these objectives were taken from of our Department’s mission statement. The original mission of John D. Odegard was to provide the highest standard of professional aviation education at a reasonable cost to the student. The department would like this to serve as an overarching theme throughout the strategy to reach the school’s mission.
One of the Department of Aviation’s main objectives is to produce future aviation employees that possess the greatest knowledge and technical abilities possible prior to entering the work force.
The Department of Aviation prides itself on the fact that its graduates receive a well-rounded education during their tenure at the University. Many organizations that hire the Department’s graduates are looking for individuals who strive for excellence in communication skills, team working skills, leadership skills, and an appreciation of other cultures.
As in any industry, aviation is in constant change requiring people who are adaptable to such change. As a department, we seek to inspire graduates to continue along the path of life long learning. This will provide an understanding and acceptance to change in the future.
The Department of Aviation utilizes technology throughout its entire curriculum. The learning objective is for students to embrace this technology and stay abreast of current applications. This will prove to provide a solid foundation and further enhance their skills for all future endeavors.
